Tranny temp gague install. Where is the best place for sensor?

Looked at where the dimple is in the pan to drill a hole there and plug in, but since this is going onto a 2wd dually, I didnt reall like the thought of it hanging down all by its lonesome. Is there a spot that you can drill thru on the SIDE of the pan? I cant remember right of hand. I would like to tuck it up not only for ground clearence, but for safety sake too. I do a LOT of driving, and would hate to have a stone hit that thing and cause a leak while going to florida from Ohio. Where did you guys put yours to keep it safe???

That looks like a lot better setup than what I have. going to go exchange mine. Mine has the capillary wire alreay on and a sealed sending unti running to the gague. Its a 3351 auto meter gague. Going to see if I can get that style. it looks MUCH better to install.
