I'm thinking about buying an '04 cummins. Tell me why I shouldn't (and leave the "dodge sucks" comments out). Just the facts

 

why you shouldn't?

because you have a 1997 f250 already and do not need a dodge? (at least your sig says you do)

 

Don't buy it if it is an automatic.

 

By all means buy a Cummins engine, they are durable and powerful. What are you going to put it in?

 

The only think I might be able to think of is athe automatic trans, but that is only hearsay from this site. Have experienced multiple 100K+ mileage dodge diesel autos with the original trans.

 

If its reasonably priced and is a 4x4 I say buy it. Although I would be leary of the auto trans. But if you have the money buy it and when the trans goes out put a built one in it. Oh, and it probably rides rough as hell.

Do you go around searching for Chevy, GM, Dodge, Chrysler, Toyota just to find a thread and say that they suck and that ford is the epitome of everything?

 

ford is the kind ford changed it all for years, ford rethink truc, and is always better, ford is the best, toyota has moved forward since they said that.

If it wasnt for the hilarity of your ignorance I might request your posting ability be taken away for NEVER having ANYTHING to offer in any conversation. However since I got a pretty good chuckle due to your lack of logic/semi illiteracy I will hold my tongue for now.

 

I wouldn't hesitate for a moment to get an 04 with the cummins and auto. The 48re transmission has been very reliable. The only problem with them is that it is a 4 speed auto vs the newer trucks 5 and 6 speed auto's. The fuel economy will be much better than the new trucks and the noise level is relatively quiet compared to the previous generation cummins.
