Envy, help me

I rode in a 2001 F350 CC 4x4 dually last night. Man, that truck sure did seem powerful and smooth shifting. It shifted so much smoother than my 97 but maybe that isn't a good thing? It only had 55K miles on it. It definitly seemed more responsive and more powerful but we weren't towing anything so I can't be totally sure. I guess the envy doesn't matter cause I cou;ldn't afford it anyway.

You can make yours like that... They have bigger injectors. So you can get new injectors and all the supporting mods and do the c00n mod to your transmission or get a BTS for around 3500. In otherwords you can have better it just takes cash and time. It all rdeally depends on what body style truck you want then you make it your own from there. I like the OBS's better IMO.

You should try the newer diesels. When I got my '03 I was amazed. Super power, super quiet, and the auto transmission always seems to be in the right gear.

But it wasn't all joy; 3 trips to the dealer and the eventual replacement of all the injectors was no fun. One of the alternators goes out every 6 months or so (began immediately after the warranty ended), and now it doesn't run particularly well unless it is fully warmed up. I forgot to mention that the transmission had a crack in the bellhousing and had to be replaced with the truck showing only 30 miles on the odometer.

Never buy the first year of any new model (new model engine in my case).

to solve the tranny shifting problem just get a ZF-5. LoL. put it in whichever gear you want, don't gotta worry about it downshifting and shifting back up again. no shift kit needed or anything. just a new clutch as power adders start taking their toll on the LUK clutch. LoL.

I think you would be surprised at just how easily you could get more power out of yours with a lot less money than upgrading the whole rig would cost you. Mine's a dog running stock but completely different with my mild upgrades. Get DIY injectors ($500 or less), guages ($250), exhaust ($400), TW chip ($400), and upgrade your auto ($ no idea, I've got a manual) and you'll be flying out in front of that 01 and he'll be envious that you only spent 1/3 that he did on his rig.
