What's your opinion on a Cali truck?
Would yall buy one? I'm thinking about buying one in two weeks, but i'd like to know if i will have any problems having it serviced?
I know they are different because of the glow plug control module, but is there anything else?
I like to know from yall and if yall would ever buy one?

I own one I purchased in LA APCD ( toughest in nation).
Doesn't seem any different to any here in NV, but I haven't drag raced it. too many variables to decide if a win or loss was because of truck or operator .
DP stuff should work, ask them. DP will nullify any wierd stuff in the PCM programming.

I own a Calif model and the only problem I had was the Glow plug control module. Never gave me a starting problem. I bought a brand new one from a guy on e-bay in the Midwest. Replaced it in 5 minutes and have not had a single problem since. I also have the DP tuner and man oh man did my truck wake up! I have not heard anything about it being weaker. Sticker on the valve cover stated 250 HP.

Any lack of power like another fte member mentioned?

It will probably have cat in the exhaust system, they eventually will plug up and need to be replaced, or taken out if you state doesn't have inspections. That would be the only thing, I would think your turbo will spool slower with a cat installed. But there are bonuses, a least it won't have been in salt in winter.

body will generally be in above average condition, and since low miles and the newest model are really important to the west coast those should be nice plusses. I know of trucks that had their own garage, were maintained by stealerships and never, EVER were off road. I also know about oilfield trucks {which got as beat up as can be}
as far as towing, some of the stuff they drag behind the truck out west is huge and heavy so be careful about signs of tranny overheating. if the fluid is old, and a nice happy magenta with no wierd smells, you ought to be good to go.
Just because you are there doesn't mean you HAVE to buy the truck. Let good sense rule, have a good time and enjoy the experience. Perhaps you will get a nice suntan.
MY $.02 your mileage will vary
