300th. post... and i have a ???

hey guys i checked my gpr today and i bridged it over with a screw driver and i tested it with a tester... and i know some of you say it throws alot of sparks when you bridge it with a screw driver... right??? well mine just barely arc'd... could this be bad gp's... or am i just wanting to tear into the valve covers??? and what would happen if i took out the gpr and just put in a switch with wires running inside the cab and hit the switch to turn them on when it was cold??? would this work or is it a bad idea all together???

actually the reason for the sparks is that is a direct line to the batteries. if you got a weak spark (not always a bad thing, lol) i would first look into your batteries or connections!

edit... BTW, congrats on # 300!

Yes, the 1 or more GP's could be bad or your connections are corroded.

and what would happen if i took out the gpr and just put in a switch with wires running inside the cab and hit the switch to turn them on when it was cold??? would this work or is it a bad idea all together???
NO!, The wires will burn up unless you use very big cables (Battery cables)

Not necessarily, The GPR can make a connection while testing with a VOM or test light but not allowing enough power to go through when the GPR has a high load (GP's) on it. This is usually caused by burned contacts inside the GPR.
