OnStar has had the ability to find stolen vehicles for some time, but now OnStar will install a device (ready in 2009) that can kill the engine, while allowing the brakes and steering to still work correctly. This will enable (supposedly) law enforcement to contact Onstar and put an end to high speed police chases safely. Besides GM, Lexus also uses Onstar.
