275/70R16 tire, anyone running?
Anyone running a 275/70R16 tire on their SD? These are very close to the size of my 265's on there now, but just a smidge shorter. With my 3.73 gears I don't want to go to a 285 in fear of losing power (2001 V10) and a gear change is out of the question. New tires are in order though, and they'll probably be 265 or 275/70's, just curious if anyone has any experience with that size tire.
Probably would be a BFG AT.
Thanks!

The standard tires that come on 16" rims are either 235/85R16 or 265/75R16. Both those sizes are larger in dia. than the 275/70R16s you are looking at, not to mention the BF A/Ts 275s are D rated. If you haul heavy loads and/or do heavy towing you will probably want E rated tires in those sizes.
I would either step up to a 285/75R16 or go with a 265/75R16. I'm running 285's 33" diameter on my 04' 6.8l, and they work great. However for what you want 265's would be the best and more widly available.
Below is a link to BF A/T size chart.

If you have a 4wd the 285's won't rub. It will be hard to notice any decrease in power between 265's and 285's due to the fact that your only increase the radius of the tire by about 1/2". Mud tires will suck more HP than a more streetable All Terrain tire like your looking at. My 285's still can handle 3300+ lbs per tire and are D rated. If you don't load the truck to the max for extended periods of time the D's will be just fine and ride better than the E's.

I'm running 285/75R16 Goodyear Silent Armor tires... I went up from a 265/75 and didn't notice a power loss, but I did put headers in it, so there is a little more exhaust flow overall anyway.
I also have the 3.73's and a V10. No rubbing, nothing. I think the 285's or even the 295's are the biggest you can go with a stock-height pre-'05 Superduty.
