Grammer: The Evil G Word

Really guys, are we so retarded that we can't use a keyboard? It's so effing annoying to be reading a post and have to wade through "hey bois i get m1 new SD mundei and i kent wate to git deh tunir sos i ken b0g wit the brosefs ken eih put 3'5s on de stokc rang3r?" Is it so freaking hard to maybe use real words?

Here we are, a bunch of kids raised on computers, and we CAN'T TYPE to save out lives. It's embarrassing to see someone with 3 posts not even bothering to use punctuation, and then they get responses from guys wth 3k posts who actually want to try to help them. It's disrespectful to the guys here who really like talking, discussing, and helping people to just throw up random spam without considering that it makes it hard for people with a functioning brain to read.

So cmon d00ds, whose gunna h3lp out? Let's not let the old guys think we're complete morons.

Nothing you do or say will keep the "adults" from branding them as morons.

I think its how people use the short cuts in texting on cells, they try use that on these and veen in school work. i must admit i wrote a whole 4 page essay 2 weeks ago in english and insted of typing "you" i put just simply "u". its just i think people and kid in the new generation are becoming lazyer and lazyer. they don't do anythign to help around home but yet think they should get everything because "ohh my friend has that" or "he has that so i want one". its total bull. i don't think its the whole can't type thing, its just kids are lazy and want to look cool by taking shortcuts at typeing. like in writeing when someone uses a thesorus to much, THE THING DON"T MAKE SENCE! so if any of you lil losers who think its cooler to type like L8er, or other dumb things like that, read this... learn how to type proper because you might have to eventually end up using computers at MC Donnalds some day when you 30 still running the deep fryer ok dork! hahaha

I'm no English major....
Please tell me that whole thing was a joke. How are you going to go off about spelling and grammer when you have at least ten mispelled words, you didn't capitalize anything, and i'm pretty sure most of that post runs together in one big jumbled mess?

haha i forgot to add i'm only 17 and i can't spell worth a grade 3 student... thats why i dumb my things down alot! and about the capitals, when your in a rush, they seem to be very pointless and only important things should be capitalized. i also hate english very much, i felt like such a loser typeing that stuff out but its the truth you must admit. i know i kinda contradicted myself in a few lines of this one but yeah. it was the truth and its simply that kids these days are way to lazy, but when your in a rush you like to cut corners, not bad if your speach or point makes sence...

I was educated by nuns in elementary school. If you didn't learn your grammar or had poor penmanship, you got your *** beat. Boys and girls. If you don't like English very much, try Spanish. LOL I keep a dictionary near the computer. I feel stupid if I misspell words.

Same here Tom, misspelling bothers me a lot. I try my hardest not to let any typographical errors slip by in my posts. I think it says a lot about the person if they hold themselves up to a standard. I am not one to cut corners in anything, my truck or my typing.

And here is part of the problem. Spelling is not very hard, especially when you have a spell checker to do it for you. And if you don't know how to use it, there's always dictionary.com.

There are some important things that need capitalized. One is the first word of a sentence. I'll let ya slide on not capitalizing 'i' every time - hey, sometimes you just miss the shift key & don't realize it - but you have to at least try.

The problem is when you cut so many corners that your speech or point doesn't make sense. Every once in awhile your eyes need a break. That's the whole point behind short sentences, capital letters, and paragraphs. You're right, kids these days are just way too lazy when it comes to typing, but it also makes them look like idiots when somebody tries to read what they wrote.

I didn't realize it until my senior year in highschool, but my aim-speak was sliding its way into my school papers. One of my teachers would circle every occurance of somebody saying 'u' instead of 'you'. I got one paper back that had this happen almost 10 times. That's when I realized my bad habits were coming out in everything I wrote, not just my IMs.

So, going along with your points, is it important for me to use correct grammar on a web forum? No. Is it important for me to use proper sentence structure? No. Do I have to use capital letters, correct spelling, and all that other nonsense we learned in English class? Not at all. But when I realize that my poor online habits are soiling my work, it sures seems alot easier to take the extra 10 seconds to put out the extra effort in everything, rather than 10 hours trying to compensate for screwing up the important things.

For me, it is the fact that people who know me more than likely already think I am an idiot, so why should I give them more ammunition to use against me?

I cant spell for the life of me but I got Firefox and it corrects it for me so I look smart.
Now I think a lot of stuff has to do with that short key cell phone texting that a lot of people do these days. They do that mess all day and then do not know how to spell or type a whole word out.
I tried to text somebody for the first time the other day and it took forever and it didn't even get to them. I don't know how everyone does it. It took twice as long to type it then to just call them and tell them.

I use text messaging to send my fiance messages while at work or school or other times when verbal communication is not possible... I also spell out every single word in my texts, no shortcuts for me. It takes slightly longer, but I dont feel lazy and less intelligent afterwards.

Test drove Firefox and Opera, Opera is OK, don't like Firefox, but I love IE7. I use the spell checker in my brain.
