which FE block is this?

block casting number is C4AE-A. It has a build date of April 2, 1964, has 406/428 wall cores, and hydraulic lifters. This is a:

'64 427 c.i.d. Top Oiler
'64-'78 330HD c.i.d. Heavy Duty Truck, Has Bosses For Cross Bolted Mains; Partially Cast From 427 Molds, Reinforcement Webs
'64 352 c.i.d.
'64-'78 359, 361, 389, & 391 c.i.d. Has Bosses For Cross Bolted Mains Partially Cast From 427 Molds, Reinforcement Webs

It IS NOT a 427. It has the three rib reinforced mains and the crossbolt bosses. It has 2 engine mount bolts per side, so it isn't an FT.

So from this I come up with it being a 352 block, but were any 352 blocks cast with the reinforced mains, crossbolt bosses, and the 428 wall cores or am I looking at something totally different here? All of my tools are at home so I can't get an accurate bore measurement, and even if I could it wouldn't mean anything if it was a 352 that had been taken at least .050 over.

ahh, yes. Like how my 85 F-150 had a 9" from the factory (had the original dated tag and all).

At least you have to have a sense of humor to work with Fords.

The C4AE-A block has multiple uses as you've found out. It was also the 406 service block besides a 352,390 and 427 block as depending on the cyl wall cores inside. Pretty common to find the crossbolt bosses in the 64 blocks as lots of them had em. Looks like you stumbled onto a good one if it has 406 wall cores.
