The truck with full fuel, two folks, 5th wheel hitch and camper stuff in the bed weighs in at a bit over 9200 lbs with the 5th wheel attached behind it we are over 22K. Just pulled the Indiana and Ohio tpk for about 300 miles and the MPG O meter said 9.3MPG when we stopped in our driveway..now that is only .8 of a MPG better than our 05 V-10 over the same road pulling the same weight. Not much for a extra $5,000 but it will get better ...It had BETTER get better....

I'm looking at a couple diff. sites right now and most are saying not as good as the lb7 (which I had) but better then the lly - similiar to the lbz. anywhere from 10-13 pulling and 16-17 daily driver.

I am getting 16-17 in town with my LMM which is the same as my 04 6.0 Excursion. Towing 10k toy hauler I get 11 mpg which is a little better than my 6.0 PS. I have gotten as high as 19 on the highway with no load, my LMM has 3.73 gears... I have been gettin great mileage since the very first tank of diesel.....in the LMM.

They are built like sheet so I will be getting a cab and chasis truck to replace it, hopefully next spring. Btw, I am not just flaming on the ford vans, I also have a chevy and I will not be buying one of those either. And, lets not even talk about the sprinter.
I beleave your right about the 250 not going anyware and in 2016, if we are still here, everyone will still be talking about the same thing only a different model, how much they have changed, and how the older ones were better or worse.

Hey Reddawg,
First and foremost, if you are pulling a 5er, you may as well pull a piano box down the road! You didn't say what your mileage was on your 08 while pulling. How many miles on the truck? How fast do you drive?
I have the same truck, with the crew cab short bed, and I pull a 10,000 Keystone
VR-1 travel trailer (V nose). If I stay about 60-65, I average 9.7-11 mpg depending on the terrain.
As far as performance goes, I think this truck is great if you include stopping, stability, comfort and consistency in your definition of performance. There is no comparison on older models to this 08 in any of these categories.
If you are one of these guys who try to pull an RV down the road at 80 MPH, then you get what you get. If not, be patient.

OK AVmike, Let me see if I can reply. My 08 at 70 with a 13k 5er toy hauler gets me about 6.5 average. I just got in today from the 4 day trip (400 miles total) and tried to keep it at 65. I got 7.3 best. My 03 7.3 with the superchip got 8.8 pulling the same 5er all day long at 70. Now for the milage on the new truck I got 7500 already and the MPGs still suck and the will always suck Im guessing. I have had 6 crew cabs. 5 fords and 1 chevy. The chevy (gas) sucked all the way around. I dont know about the Duramax. Some say its good. OK, I have never got better MPGS even after 40k miles NEVER. I dont understand why people say that I have had the trucks and that has never happened to me. As far as my new truck I love every aspect of it but the milage. Its the best looking by far over all the new trucks in my opinion.
