Anti-Gel Recommendations?

Stopped by my local Ford dealer to pick up some Motorcraft anti-gel, but the counter guy didn't know what I was talking about (never gets cold enough to need it here, so I guess they just must not stock it). I ended up going next door to the Kragen Auto and picking up the only anti-gel they had, Power Service Diesel Fuel Supplement.

Any reasons or experiences as to why I should NOT use this in an 08? The only info I could find was from the manufacturer's website, where they state it is safe for ULSD and vehicles with DPFs.

Though I've driven diesels a bit in my life, I've never owned one before, so dealing with maintenance stuff like cold temps is new to me. I may be worrying for nothing. I'm going fishing for a few days where the temp will drop into the low 20's at night, so I may be over-reacting, but figured better safe than sorry.

Up here in MN most guys don't worry about gelling until it gets closer to single digits. Most stations start selling number 1 diesel blends by November and that is good enough for most. Some people I know never use an additive.

But since you have it, go ahead and use it according to the label misxing ratios. Power Service Diesel Kleen in the gray bottle is what I use every tank. It just seems to make the motor run smoother.

Obviously don't need it yet but I just picked up some of the new ULSD anti-gel/cetane booster combo at my Ford dealer here in Iowa- black lid- the regular Ford cetane booster has a red top...

Thanks for the info. I realize I was being somewhat paranoid, partly based on the manual stating you need to look at cold weather maintenance at 20 deg (and like with oil changes I like to do stuff a little earlier) and the fact that the cold weather where I'm going is early and out of the ordinary, so I figured they wouldn't have winter blends yet (or I wouldn't have bothered with anti-gel).

Anyways, though it appears I have nothing to worry about, I guess I might as well use the bottle I have since I already paid the ducats for it, just for the little Cetane boost if nothing else.

I am under the impression the gas stations already add "some" anti-gel to their tanks to keep THEIR fuel from gelling up and have been told by the dealer additives are not necessary
