I've put a Aeroturbine 3030XL resonated exhaust system with a stealth 200.
I am using a Superchips 1815 programmer
runing around town half hwy half city i get about 13-14 mpg avg.
when i tow my 6k lbs camper trailer the best ive got is 10mpg, but usually 7-8 mpg if theres alot of hills or headwind or hwy speeds 70+ mph.
Don't get me wrong i love this truck. It can do what i need it to do......but I'd like more..... so
its not feasable to go trade it in for a diesel (so forget about that)
I am thinking........ SUPERCHARGER..
after all they make lots of superchargers for the 5.4L V8.....right?
After searching relentlessly for them i emailed every company i could think of that makes one for the 5.4L several times.

Kenne-Bell -said no kit for f250
Whipple -said no kit for f250
Magnacharger - no response (2 weeks)
Rousch - -said no kit for f250 but said all it would really require is a PCM calibration for the different transmission (5-speed torqshift)
Trilogy Motorsports - no response (2 weeks)

finally a rep. from http://www.powerworks.net/ which is a (magnacharger)
got back to me.....

"Do me a favor and send me your processor code. I would like to see if I can
build the calibration for it for starters. Second would be where do you
live? We have not done a superduty before and there are some underhood
differences. We are unsure that the manifold and supercharger can be
installed in the Superduty body. From looking at it, the intake appears to
be closer to the cowl panel. I would like to do the install here at the
shop to make sure there aren't any issues with the installation and
software.

Ok now after this huge lengthy post ( i felt i needed to add some background for my question)..

Anybody know were i can find the 4 digit processor code ? or have any other input on what i am trying to do.
13-14 mpg running around town?

I have a 2007 250 CC long box Fx4 with the 5.4/ auto trans / 3.73 with the offroad package 265/70/17 mine is hwy/city 60/40 and 11.5mpg no matter what, drive it like I stole it or granny style

tires psi at 70 all the way around...

I would love to get 13-14mpg around town,

heres my window sticker, truck is still stock

what am I doing different that I get 2-3 mpg less?

Man, I love posts like this. Have you done the math?

Can not afford to trade up to a diesel but are willing to spend $5K for a supercharger?

Seen by your current mods, you have done a few thousand dollars already in mods. All for what gain in mileage? There is no Majic gismo for the 5.4l SD that is going to give it uber MPG increase and be economical.

What you have sunk into it and propose to sink in it, would have bought alot of gas to begin with.

Quit using the "mileage increase" fantasy as the driver for your mods and just accept you like to diddle with your truck.

Packoo ... i cant imagine that the difference of a long box to a short box would have that much difference but i did say its half city half hwy. and i have done some mods to mine.

Ok let me set you guys straight .... I'm not doing this to try and increase my MPG sure that would be nice if it helps. but really im not gonna see but 1-2 better out of a diesel.... anyway

I searched all over WA, ID, MT, OR, WY for a Superduty with the same options i have now except diesel... I even kinda leaned towards a manual for mileage.... anyway i found 1 that was close the only difference being it was a long box and mines a short, and its obviously an 2008.

apparently they didnt want to sell it too me.

i've owned my truck for about 1 year.

i owe about $34k on it. i pay around $600 a month

they offered me $26k for my truck, plus said i had to come up with $6 down and my payment would be $900+ a month

so sorry to say but its not worth it... $14k out of pocket plus an extra $300 a month .... i dont think so.

whelp sounds like a supercharger is a no go ............
all the superchargers for the 5.4L are only for the F150 and its 4-speed trans

i guess i'll at least do the ram air hood hope that goes well.

Frog, Don't give up so easy, go back to Roush and ask them some more details. See if they can get it done. I looked into doing this to my 2001 and found no problems except that it was against my class rules so I went other ways. I can't beleive the trans would keep this from happening? Im going to change cams, port the heads, change air intake manifolds and have it built to be high compression and the man said no problem. You go to a chassis dyno shop and they will add a blank card and make any program needed to make the engine work. I would not think this supercharger/trans problem would be much different.

well after reading a lot of the stuff on this site i'm also thinking i want to lift my truck and put some bigger tires on it.

I still want to be able to tow my 6000lbs+ camper trailer and small boat, and i use a 16' carhauler once in a while hauling, wood, hay, & construction materials. so i dont want to make it useless for towing.

I dont like the look of the "nose in the air" trucks. i think a truck looks good with some rake angle.

im not sure if i want 35" or 37" tires, and im thinking either rough country or skyjacker, or something comparable. prob a 4"-6" lift.

money isnt the issue here i want whats gonna be best and last the longest.

i was concerned about losing power and this is one of the reasons i wanted to do a supercharger before i lifted etc.. oh well

am i going to have to change my gearing from a 3.73 ?

my main reason for lifting is .... hunting ... i do some off roading out here in montana for at least a few weeks out of the year. plus it looks better.

but i do use this truck as a daily driver....

all opinions appreciated.
