Brake Light Switch at HD

I posted this on MSN groups flathead forum, but I realize some of you guys might not get over there.

I haven't had brake lights on my 48 F1 for awhile now. When I built the truck I replaced the original with one from Sacto Vintage and it worked for about 5 years. Then 'bout 6 months ago I realized it wasn't working so I bought one from the local NAPA parts house. Still no brake lights...............checked with NAPA and all the pressure switches they sell are rated at 60-120 lbs.

Finally went to the local Harley-Davidson dealer last week. After getting the expected curious stares and telling them what I was looking for, I got the usual "I can't find anything like that in my parts list". So I asked for the resident 'ol parts guru' and finally talked to someone in the back - the owner, I think. He knew right away I needed one with a 1/8" pipe plug fitting for two wires - '91 HD he thought. He was right! Said he hadn't heard of HD's being used in Fords but said he'd hang on to the info. Pretty sharp guy and decent to work with.

Then the first parts guy started with, "You know this is HD, not NAPA, so hold on to your wallet". I just laughed and reminded him I'm running a flathead V8 and nothing is cheap for it either! I figured $20 was a bargain if it worked.

Long story short, the HD, made in USA brake light switch WORKS! Here's the part number in case any of you have similar troubles.

Nice find Tim.
Here's the one I've been using for the last four years. Someone back then said these hold up better to the DOT 5 silicone than others and I guess so far they were right.
