Unhappy Check engine Light

Well my fathers new F-250 4x4 CC shortbed 3.73 rear has the check engine Light illuminated! The truck has about 1200 miles on it. He says that when going up hill the truck runs out of power. pushing the accelerator pedal to the floor after a few seconds the truck takes off like crazy. The light is illuminated all the time. The dealer says they know what part is the culprit but failed to explain what it was? I guess the truck is going into the dealer this week. A ny ideas out there?

Is the truck stock or do you have any power adders?

Question

The truck is completely stock. The dealer also told him as long as the check engine is not flashing. It ok to operate the truck. I don,t buy this. If the light is on steady I guess its not a serious problem?

I had a similar problem. It was a bad sensor. Easily and quickly replaced by dealer. In my situation, it was okay to drive truck.
