when my friend got his toyota the cab had a body lift but the bed was stock, we made all new lift blocks out of 2x2x3/16ths square tubing. We had this on a prerunner that we beat to death, I even jumped it 7 feet in the air and never had a problem. I think the problem is materials and hard ware. I plan on changing all my hardware to grade 8 bolts with nylon lock nuts and oversized thick washers.

Beef up for sure!

My rear drivers side corner ripped out of the crossmember during a mud expedition (frame flex).

Drove into the 7-11 Parking lot afterwards, shut the truck off ... Truck wouldn't start again due to the fact the cab was sitting on an angle, throwing the auto shift linkage out of wack... into reverse gear... Not thinking, I went under the truck, manually held the trans in park while having a friend start it, by reaching through the window.

Once it started, I let go of the linkage, automatically springing it to reverse.... Rolled out from the truck as fast as possible, but the tire still ran over a section of my left knee/leg. No major injury... Stupid I know... but just a warning to anyone listening.

I can beat that, about 7 years ago I was going to do some trans work on my dodge mirada (shift kit, big car) and I had it up on ramps at my moms house. I was trying to figure out how to get the valve body out and got mad so I yanked on it and the shifty rod let go and the car rolled down the ramps and on to me. I tried to roll out but my shirt got hooked on the trans and rolled me onto my shoulder. 6 guys were dropping off a 240z across the street and ran over, they pushed and picked the car up back onto thee ramps. They said that the front tires weren't touching the ground... The car weighed 4600lbs. I ride away in the wahmbulance and all the doctors were amazed that my only injury was a torn rotator cuft and a separated shoulder. They later told me that they had an o.r. standing by before I got there. ill never get under a vehicle that dosent have jack stands and tire chalks.

Probly wouldnt be here to tell the story. Ive had atleast 2 near death exp. where I could have or should not be here and am still trying to figure out why I am still here. When I was in diapers my cousin was playing with me and had me riding on her back like a horse on the bed when i fell flat on the floor and my mom walked in from work and I wasnt breathing for a few minutes until she revived me, ten minutes earlier and I wouldnt have been here to tell the story. If there is a god, ill let you know lol.

I usually set two 6 ton jack stands under anything i'm working on, then I let the jack down and try to knock it off the stands, then I'll put jack up close to it again. I've heard quite a few stories about cars falling and refuse to be the victim myself.

And 73 ford guy, your truck has to weigh a TON. Lol.

its the rubber mounts that dont hold up well to all the extra leverage...the bolts bend or beak as the bottom rubber mount allows the body to slife over and twist it

I personally wouldnt run more than a 1.5" but i dont run one at all anymore...after rolling trucks a few times i want my center of gravity as low as possible

Dont roll lol. And if you put your self in that position you should have a cage and you wouldnt go anywhere anyway.

your not having fun if you dont put it on its side or roll every now and then

and i prefer a cage inside the cab...so its still nice to have the body stay on
