I think I might try giving it a shot today, I'm in that "on a mission" mode. If, I get into bother, I might take you up on your offer! But let me see how I pan out. Thanks for the offering help.

I wouldn't lie to you buddy. My Sportster 4 (as well as some models before it such as the Starmate) has 44 minutes of internal memory which automatically records whatever you are listening to, so you can rewind or pause the music. This memory of course gets erased every time you change the channel or turn the receiver off. See for yourself:

Trust me, when it comes to electronics, I know my stuff I'm a 19 year old Computer Science major at UC Davis, what do you expect?!

Anywho, I'm uploading pictures of my setup right now Shane, gimme a few minutes.

I'm going to be a Sophomore at Davis so I've only had 1 year of experience with C and C++ (plus a little Java in high school). Aside from that, electronics and computers are just a hobby of mine in general, as well as a profession. I'm employed by UC Davis in the Computer Lab Management department; part of a small team of about 8 or 10 guys that keeps the 700-800 PCs and Macs around campus as well as any audio/video equipment in tip-top running shape. They say it is one of the highest paying campus positions for a student Very competitive, I like to brag about it

Anywho, enough about me, here's your pics Shane:

Don't that look nice? The antenna on the window is for my remote start. Don't diss the country music :P

No wires on top of dash.

Kick panel removed, see some of my wires there (some aren't for the Sirius)

My wire mess, I had excess from that cigarette lighter but I was so tired and I didnt feel like cutting and crimping ONE MORE WIRE!

Close up of my fancy idea. Wires go in, and presto, different wires come out! Notice on the adapter it says "Input: 9-16V /// Output: 5.2V". That was the dead giveaway

The exposure on this picture turned out horrible, I was trying to take a picture of that upper plastic trim where I ran my antenna wire. I didn't remove the trim pieces, you'll just have to trust me, its in there

Antenna coming out 3rd brake light and onto roof

Look ma' - no wires!

Enjoy! Let me know if I can help anymore dude.

Great pictures, Chris. I like the location too. Looks awsome. One more thing, When I place my 3rd brake light cover, and start tightening it up, this will nip on the cable, will I just cut a little notch in the cover to acomadate this?

Thanks dude. Hey where are you located?

I was going to notch it but when I saw that the thinness of the cable really didn't prevent the light front sitting back onto the truck I just said screw it. It might be easier if you notch it but will also be PERMANENT!!

**GASP** he said the P word

Anytime brother. I might go grab a bite to eat in a bit so you can call my cell if you need any quick advice, especially if you're going to try and hardwire the power I've PMd you the number.

Also, what make and model deck are you using? Becuase you could potentially be stuck with using the FM transmitter if you don't have an auxiliary input. Even for my deck I had to buy a separate connector to plug into the back for converted it to RCA red-and-white, you might need somethin' like that too.

Cool deal man, nothing wrong with a community college. It's really the smarter way to go for a couple years while you're taking GE so you can save a few bucks. Just have to suck up your pride for when people ask "what school do you attend?"

XM Satellite

Just sharing how I ran mine. Browning RV Satellite antenna hooked to the outside passenger grab bar. Ran through the third brake light. taped the cable in the corner with Velcro. Took the passenger side entry step out and put the cable underneath it, and reinstalled the step. Wire tied underneath the dash to the portable Satellite radio. Then installed a shade visor on the backside of the cab to cover the cable going from the grab bar through the third brake light lens. barely noticeable.

The portable satellite radio is made by Pioneer, a "Inno" and hooked to a AUX cable to a Pioneer cd player. Audiovox also produces a satellite radio that hooks to the cig lighter and plays through a cd player or regular radio via a FM Modulator.
