fried wires to rear fuel pump?

I have a 92 F150

I discovered some toasted wires on the rear fuel pump and now I have no power to either tank.

Thanks to Subford I found the enertia switch right where Subford said it would be.

Does the enertia switch shut off the pwer to the pumps?

Is there a relay switch and if so, where is it?

Yes if you hit something.

Yes there is a Relay.

Here is a link to a diagram of your engine compartment fuse/relay box.

new hookups

I purchased two new fuel pumps for my f150 and the pig tails are different.

The instructions that came with them calls for the wires to be soldered to the existing lines.

I am considering using connectors instead. is this a bad idea?

Also, on my beloved 85 f250,if there is no power to the switch that changes my tanks would it cause my fuel gauges not to work?

Search this forum for Dual Tank or similar terms; the F-150 with 2 tanks had several problems that have been addressed exhaustively here by senior members. I soldered my wiring harness simply because of vibration issues and because it's so deucedly hard to get at.

and another thing, if you haven't done it already, I recomend taking the bed off for these repairs; I know, sounds drastic, but you'll thank me later. Good luck

ok my new inertia switch didn't sovle my problem. no power to two wires out of three but when you pop the button up a light in the dash comes on.
When i plug the pic tail into the old pump at least the fuewl gauge works. all my fuses check out . the b ad part must be between the dash and pump?

When you pop the button on the inertia switch it becomes a ground for the light on the dash and it lights. This does not mean that there is any power at the inertia switch.

It sounds like you are not getting any power from the fuel pump relay.

This could be the relay is not closing, ground pin #6 of the VIP Test Connector to test.

This also could be that there is no power going to the Fuel Pump Relay Yellow wire (Bad fuse Link).

The VIP Test Connector, Pin #6 is the circuit 926 (LB/O wire).

Did you click on the first link in Post #2 above?
It shows the location and the second link is the electrical diagram of your fuel system.

If you cannot click on the links and see them post back and I will get them to you somehow.

When you ground pin #6, circuit 926 (LB/O wire)of the VIP (test connector) the fuel pump relay will close and if the key is on and the fuel pumps should run. You should hear a click when you ground Pin #6. circuit 926 (LB/O wire).

If there is no power on the yellow wire at the fuel pump relay it can not send power to the pumps. This would mean you have an open fuse link if their is no power at the yellow wire.

EEC test is what it says, mounted on drivers fender.

Took my test light and grounded all the pins., I could hear the fuel relay clicking on one and discovered power to another one of the pins.

still no power to the tanks. help

Well you were not supposed to ground all of the wires, just the circuit 926.
You need to keep it grounded with the key on (relay made [closed]).
Check for power at the inertia switch, if none check for a bad fuse links at the starter relay.

Ok, I grounded pin 926. I could hear my front pump running. I have power to all three connections on the enertia switch. Another pin on the VIP will make my pump run too. I have power to one of the pins in the VIP but no others
