fried wires to rear fuel pump?
I have a 92 F150
I discovered some toasted wires on the rear fuel pump and now I have no power to either tank.
Thanks to Subford I found the enertia switch right where Subford said it would be.
Does the enertia switch shut off the pwer to the pumps?
Is there a relay switch and if so, where is it?

Here is a link to a diagram of your engine compartment fuse/relay box.

new hookups
I purchased two new fuel pumps for my f150 and the pig tails are different.
The instructions that came with them calls for the wires to be soldered to the existing lines.
I am considering using connectors instead. is this a bad idea?
Also, on my beloved 85 f250,if there is no power to the switch that changes my tanks would it cause my fuel gauges not to work?

ok my new inertia switch didn't sovle my problem. no power to two wires out of three but when you pop the button up a light in the dash comes on.
When i plug the pic tail into the old pump at least the fuewl gauge works. all my fuses check out . the b ad part must be between the dash and pump?

It sounds like you are not getting any power from the fuel pump relay.
This could be the relay is not closing, ground pin #6 of the VIP Test Connector to test.
This also could be that there is no power going to the Fuel Pump Relay Yellow wire (Bad fuse Link).
The VIP Test Connector, Pin #6 is the circuit 926 (LB/O wire).

It shows the location and the second link is the electrical diagram of your fuel system.
If you cannot click on the links and see them post back and I will get them to you somehow.

Still no power to the tanks. I am moving on to the next set of instuctions.

VIP test connector, I THINK I found it

If there is no power on the yellow wire at the fuel pump relay it can not send power to the pumps. This would mean you have an open fuse link if their is no power at the yellow wire.

Took my test light and grounded all the pins., I could hear the fuel relay clicking on one and discovered power to another one of the pins.
still no power to the tanks. help

You need to keep it grounded with the key on (relay made [closed]).
Check for power at the inertia switch, if none check for a bad fuse links at the starter relay.
