any body out there know of a place where i can buy a roll bar that will actually do something in case of a roll over.Or maybe a place where i can get some blueprints or a shop drawing on how to make a proper one and all of the brackets etc needed?I have access to a steel shop that can weld up anything as long as i have the proper plans.

The functional kind needs 2 mounts on each side, one is just a brace for the main U part of the roll bar. Mount to the frame with extra bracing on your I beams. That's all there is to it. I think its a great idea and adds alot of safety. I had a Datsun pu I put a roll bar on, never tested it though.
