a/c compressor in the new f150's suck...

Not to argue here, but it's not the compressor that sucks. It's the entire system! The compressor does nothing but compress refrigerant and send it to the rest of the system. If the condensor, which is in front of the radiator, is inefficient or is dirty, your a/c is gonna suck. If the expansion valve is not working right, it's gonna suck...if your refrigerant is low, it's gonna suck...if the control system is cutting out the compressor because it thinks the air is cool enough...once again, it's gonna suck.
Replacing the compressor won't solve a thing, as I believe the problem has more to do with the rest of the system.

If you go into a parts store and look at air conditioning recharge kits, you should see a synthetic air contitioning booster. It claims to increase efficiency and make the air colder...
But if this stuff destroys your air conditioning system, warranty will NOT cover it(if they can find it), and that would be easily over a $1,000 repair. I just live with it...once the truck gets moving it cools down just fine for me, although i agree it's on the weak side.

I don't know...I rarely run mine on MAX AC for more than a few minutes around town before I have to back it down. Granted, this is only a supercab and so far have only seen temps up to about 98F, but it is a black truck.
If some systems can cool fine, then that would seem to say the design is OK, So it's possible that there is something wrong or mis adjusted with the ones that don't cool too well. Really, I've never known fords to have great AC's but the one in my F150 seems to run OK.
A competent shop should be able to diagnose the trouble, or give it a clean bill of health.

I have complaints too. If I leave my unit on Auto, the a/c never gets cold. If I push the recirc button while on auto, it has no impact. I have to take the a/c off of auto and push recirc and put the fan speed all the way up on high. Only then does it cool off the truck. I'd rather have a completely manual system next time.

06 F-150 Screw Lariat A/C is not to cold the first 30Min or so. If I keep it in auto I set the temp 60. On Super warm day. Manual best thing for me, take off auto hit recirc fan on HI temp at 60 Don't know what's up with the new A/C systems in new cars but wow they are bad.. Just my 2 cents worth

Suppose the only objective way to check temp would be therm in outlet vents, otherwise I wonder if we just have differing opinions/experiences about how cold "COLD" should be. I freeze in my truck sometimes. Today was one such, driving from Louisville to Nashville, 89F (humidity might have been around 70%).
Besides the nicer controls, is there any difference between the XLT and Lariat on up? I have an '06 XLT Screw.

My A/C gets really cold on the highway with fast air blowing through the condenser. But around town it takes forever to get cold and then blows warm when stopped. I think a good electric fan would remedy the problem on mine as well as a lot of others. Don't know why ford doesn't use an electric fan on these as OEM.
