This is a really good thread. It gives info for both sides. Mine is not restored. It never will be. I bought mine to drive when and where I want to. If I want to drive it every day, I can. Mine is not garaged and never will be.

With the rules Grundy has, I could not insure mine with them. If someones is indeed a pleasure vehicle for occasional rides...then it works out fine.

I just have to ask though...53fatfndr: If you go on a road trip...your truck will be unattended at night at the hotels you stay at. Is that not against what the policy says in the first place? Maybe I am reading too much into it. LOL

I have grundy and used to have Hagerty. Neither say that there is a problem with the vehicle being parked outside while going to a show. I think the intent is to have the truck garaged under normal conditions and not subject it to the constant jeopardy involved in the morning and afternoon comutes to and from work.

Hagerty had a specified mileage limit but would extend it if you called and said that you needed to go on a long trip to X show. Grundy has no mileage limit stipulated.

If your effie is going to be your primary transportation then you need to go with a regular insurance company, but it seems to me that everybody else would benefit from going with one of the old car insurance companies. Jag

You're not reading into it too much, you're just assuming I stay at hotels

What about Haggerty? I'm don't remember the limits of the mileage limit. But I thought you could drive it to work, etc. I garage it.

I think Haggarty says you can occassionally take it to work, but you must have a primary vehicle for most daily trips. But, it wouldn't hurt to call and ask some questions. They will give you a free estimate. Jag

I'll jump in here and second what AX said. DO NOT trust what your agent says, no matter how well you know him. It's not that they are dishonest, they just don't know all the nuances ans subltleties of most of the policies. I am a claims adjuster, and I wish I had a dollar for everytime I heard "but my agent said it was covered". Agents have E&O insurance to cover their mistakes like this. Let me be clear also, I am not flaming insurance agents. My best friends are agents. Just read your policies, if you have any questions, have your agent ask either claims people or underwriters. That way you will know for sure what you have.
I always cringe when I hear "I called my agent and he said no problem..." No problem until something actually happens......
