1996 f150 Positraction Swap

Hi, I need to know what years and models 8.8 will fit a 96 f150 .Would a mustang 8.8 posi work ? How many spline axles is it. Thanks ,Pat

Any 8.8 carrier with 30 spline axles will work in your housing.

Mustangs can be either 28 spline or 30 spline.

You also need a carrier that has the tone ring.

Due to width you are limited to F150 86-96. Maybe van . Good luck finding a limited slip.
If in Pa I have a 3:55 set rear. Check into getting a locker for yours cost may be same .

Most of the time, a used axle is going to be worn out or close to it, and the limited slip is the first to go. You're going to have to rebuild the clutches. By the time you're done buying the axle and rebuilding it, changing the brakes, etc., you're probably better off going with something like a powertrax no slip.
