the 07 does have traction control, but I haven't seen anything about side airbags though. seems pretty dumb to buy a truck with lower safety rating just to get side airbags....just my opinion though.

btw, I think you're miscalculating the dirt wieght. loose dirt like that is fairly light. it's when it gets wet or you get a clay/sod mixture that the stuff starts getting heavy. I'd be surprised if it broke 1200 lbs. from the pic, your truck wasn't even realy squatting.

I had a 2 axle car trailer and a car hooked to my truck last week. with the car loaded so the trailer was nose heavy, my truck squatted 3" in the rear. I wieghed the truck/trailer combo and we were just shy of 13,000 lbs. for a gasser, my truck towed amazingly. and the brakes did their job better than I expected (trailer brake not hooked up).

Why do people go crazy over things that don't matter? I've driven trucks over 40 years from the crappiest of the crap to excellent trucks. I've overloaded some so badly that I've dragged tailpipes on paved roads. I've never had any problems related to frame flex or bed bounce. That's why the bed is separate from the cab. That's why Ford's unified bed and cab failed in the 60s.

If you'd seen the videos you'd know this is a problem with the Toyota. Flex so bad it causes the truck to be unstable on some roads.

I'm just goin by what she said and she said a yard was 2200 lbs. Judging from how much was in that before she dumped it, it sure looked like a lot more than 3/4 a yard.

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_much_d...op_soil_weight That there says it weighs between 2025 and 2700 lbs. There are some varying answers on Google. One I found to be 1600 lbs.

Yeah, the bed bouncing issue is a pretty big one in my opinion. I've never had it be unstable on some roads, BUT, it is so bouncy on some sections of the freeway, that all I'm doin (besides watchin' the road) is watchin' my fat jiggle.

So far, so good on my Tundra. I think the fit and finish is excellent and so far, no real complaints. The biggest one is the bed bouncing issue on bad stretches of highway. On any other road it rides great. Max payload for my Tundra is 1650lbs and I had them drop "3/4" a yard of dirt in there (looked like almost a full yard) and the truck was more or less level. I had excellent acceleration and braking with no real signs of stress. The truck redlines around 6 grand and I could get in and out of traffic pretty quickly by letting it shift at less than 3 grand.

I'm not entirely sure on the price difference, but I'd say it's a very solid truck that Toyota did nail the market with.

If I had it my way, I'd definitely be driving an F-150 BUT, the parents had to put me in a truck with side airbags and traction control (both of which the F-150 does not have). I will say this honestly, I think Toyota builds a great truck and that after two months of driving it, I wouldn't give it up in a New York minute. Give me like 30 seconds and then we'll be talkin a whole 'nother issue .

I actually blew the pants off of an F150 tonight with Super Duty tow mirrors and if I can, I'll go ahead and post the crummy picture I took of it tonight.

You're right. They had like 20 cam failures but apparently Toyota caught that early and only a few were built during that time period. I think the camshaft failures have been the worst we've seen on the forum but the bed bouncing is getting the most attention... I guess they forgot to take their ADD medicine this morning.

And yes, you're right, Fords are the best built trucks.

Traction control is basically a LS rearend. So mommy and daddy bought you a $40K truck? Must be nice. I thought I was spoiled and I got a $15K F150 and I still catch chit about it.

How the world has changed. Long ago, when I was a teenager, I thought I had accomplished a major victory when I talked my parents into letting me buy my own car. I got the old $30 41 Chevy running and looking good enough that I was able to sell it for enough to buy a non-running 55 BelAir 2 door hardtop (which I got running and sold to buy............etc).

Yeah, sticker was much less than $40 and we payed even less than that. Like low 20s. It pays off not drinking throughout highschool and earning their trust.

I drove two '98 Expeditions prior. The first one that we bought new and now has 140K miles on it. Great car and I'd take it back in a heartbeat, trust me! The second '98 we bought used with 142K miles. Although great mechanically, it sucked electronically. No ABS, no cruise control, sucky brakes, needed new tires, had a 3" body lift, a crappy dash kit, a blown subwoofer, and it was abused by the family and kids that owned in with stains that wouldn't come out of everything. It was in pretty bad shape to say the least, but I still liked it.

This is the only picture I have of them side by side:

Edit: Somehow, they bent the rims on the red Ex. They were still driveable, but I was always curious how they could bent the edges a little bit.

Edit to the edit: I catch chit because I drive a Toyota and I wear a Ford camo hat that I bought at Wal*Mart. Then I told them I've been breathing Ford since I could talk. Only one person sticks up for me to this day, but the rest are just joking around and know I'm probably the most die-hard Ford guy ever born.

Mom is "well to do", and Im an only child. I bought my first car a couple years ago, '79 F250, and I was spending all my money on it and it was haveing problems as a daily driver. Broke down on me a total of 12 times. Runs great now. So I got a base F150 STX for my 17th Bday and did everything to it. My '79 is still in my garage right next to my new F150 waiting for whatever I do to it. I might restore it to a nice classic that I can 4wheel.

maybe back in the day...but the new T/C is anything but. It pulls your spark and slams the brakes to stop the wheel spin. it kinda feels like wheel hop when it's actuated.

my Mustang has almost killed me a few time when my T/C was on and I nailed the peddle. I'm glad my 06 F-150 doesn't have it. I'd rather have wheel spin anyday over the electronic "control"

My mustang did the same to me a few times...but without a LS rear end...no telling whether or not I'd be able to get out of there faster...but it still scares the hell out of me when someone's coming at me and when I put the pedal to the floor....nothing.....
