Dana 44 knuckle swap

I have a 60 ford 4x4 with a swapped newer dana 44 (73-75) 3/4 ton. I went back to the stock steering and the spindle control arm is too large. A friend told me I could swap out the spindle arms from a older axle and I got the driver side to work but the passenger side axle shaft won't fit. It appears to be too long but when I compared it to a older axle from a 59 they are the same length. I appreciate any advice on this so I can get this on the road. It is now 3 years and running.
