Is there a good 3 valve V10 tuner?

After doing some search functions here - it appears that sucessfull tuners for the 3 valve V10's are, well for no better words, still a ways off. I see that SCT offers one as well as Superchips (p/n1815) but they don't seem to get glowing reviews here from some that have tried them - none to minimal Hp increases, same for gas mileage plus the potential for transmission problems. While I would like a mile or two per gallon increase, what really interests me is sharper transmission shifts and maybe a bit better throttle 'feel' on my fly-by- wire.

Is what I am reading indeed true - or are there really some acceptable tuners? All I want is an 87 octane tow mod.

My truck - an '06 F350 4x4 Lariat CC, V10, 4.10 gears and 10mpg+/- with no load.

Don't expect mile per gallon increases with any tuner, it is possible, but not guaranteed. Fly by wire generally takes some time to get right, Chevy had some issues in the beginning as well. I know the flashpaq is update able, so if you get one and they come up with better tunes you can download them from their website (I believe for free.)

So far - on the open road this monster isn't a lot worse then my 5.4 F150 gas mileage wise(2-3). I would hope that mpg would be a by-product of better shifting - and I still don't have a clue if that will be done by the Flashpaq - oops I finally 'tuned' in to the Superchips web site. It wont do squat for my truck:

Bolding, underlines and comments are mine
  • Update Tuner via the Internet for Latest Calibrations (Why bother spending $499+/-)
  • Available Data Acquisition at Flashpaq.com (Need more then that for the $$$)
  • Adjust Shift Points, F-150 & Mk LT only
  • Enhance Shift Firmness, F-150 & Mk LT only
  • Eliminate Speed Limiter (So what?? - this isn't a race car)
  • Recalibrate Speedo for Larger Tire 28"-40" (???? see comment next)
  • Recalibrate Speed for Rear Gear changes, 3.08, 3.31, 3.55, 4.10, 4.30, 4.56, 4.88 & 5.13 (Whoopee - Ford can do this a lot cheaper then $499 - at least thru 4.30)
  • Adjust Rev Limits, F-150 only
  • Choose from Three Available Performance Settings
  • Superchips Tuning will work with Air Intake Filter Kit when stock Mass Air Meter is used, Shorty Headers and Cat Back Exhaust
I guess that a Superchips is not in my immediate future until it can do a few basic changes and it appears that they haven't broken Ford's code on the V10 yet

Looks like I'll drive 'as is' for a while.

When they don't allow you to customize the shifting, superchips uses their judgment on shift pressure/points. So it will modify the way the transmission acts, it just doesn't allow you to tweak it yet.

I'll give them a call later on and see what the Flashpaq will really do - but it does say in the advertising that it is only on a 150 or LT (Blackwood?) that any transmission mods can be done. Then I 'll post their comments.
