Off To China

Leaving for China tonight. No Tourists where I go. I'm the only big, ugly white guy they've ever seen in person. I visit twice a year. It's 90F and Raining......

Thought you might like to see a Vintage Chinese Truck. You don't see these in the major cities. Where I go is 100% Industrial and these rigs are everywhere. The frame is a single beam down the center. The engine is belt drive and they haul everything you can imagine.

You don't drive in China. You have a Chinese Driver or you will die in 5 minutes. It's insane, no rules, no lanes, no signs or lights. Millions of Bikes and Scooters often driving against traffic.

Anyway, if they installed a Mustang II and some Steelies ?...........

How about some Daytons on that rig?!

I was in Tianjin for a month, what blew my mind was the cargo bicycles that they are always pedaling backwards! Someone finally explained to me that they are set up to have a lower gear ratio when pedaling backwards.

The other thing was all the bicycle tires up in the trees. Apparently the street vendors who fix flats on the Flying Sparrow bikes everyone rides throw old tires up there to avoid carrying them to the dump.

Can you imagine trying to find your black Flying Sparrow in a row of 300 other black Flying Sparrows?!

Have a good trip!

I saw the title "Off to China" and I thought you meant Harbor Freight.

Great photo. Isn't that a China Chevy?

Have a good trip!

What that truck needs is some wide whites and baby moons, maybe some twice pipes, or how about a big ol' brodie **** for that steering wheel

Man, I need to get one of these Vintage Chinese Trucks. It would probably go thru just about anything on this farm as long as the back of it was empty. And if not I could always go to a set of duals with chains and wheel weights on the front.
Of course that would mean a turbo to handle all that....
Somehow 90F and raining doesn`t seem all that inviting.
Have a great trip.

I lived in China from 2000 - 2004. These things are everywhere outside of the cities. The cooling is kinda neat. The tank on top the head is filled with water and just sits there and boils, constant 212 F, no radiator. The big circle is where you dump the water in. They just sit there and steam. The one eman posted is a fancy one, it has a steering wheel. Most of the ones I have seen have a handle like a roto tiller, it swings back and forth to turn.
