Explain to me why Ford would care other then now they don't have to warranty that truck.... ??

Also that truck did sound nice. Sounded a lot like a straight-piped 7.3

I just straight piped the resonator on my truck and it sounds just as good as that truck does with the DPF gone.

To me it seems that the guy's having no problems because without the DPF, there's no soot clogging. Therefore, why would any sensors go off indicating the need for regeneration? There's never any clogging so the sensors won't detect anything, almost like nothing's been changed. Just a shot in the dark.

I agree DD1684 the sensors only know what it is told then relays it to go into regen no high level of soot no regen???

I'm not trying to argue, not being ornery. I get disturbed when I see potential major issues coming. Remember, not only is there pressure sensors, there's temperature sensors in the exhaust. Again, if you're going to do something, research it carefully (especially with the 6.4)!

That's exactly why I'd rather keep my (7.3) truck bone stock .

What happens? I don't think anything has been posted here, but it would interesting to find out. I could see the mother of all CES lights tho.

There are guys on other forums who removed thier dpf and after about 500 miles or so, the truck goes in to regen and will not stop. This is with all the sensors installed back in the pipe. The regen is usually controlled by the pressure sensors, but apparently the regen will start after a certain amount of time or miles (I don't know which one) even though there is no pressure drop measured. One guy tried to heat one of the sensors with a torch to get it to stop, but as soon as the heat is removed the regen starts up again. Right now the tuners are working on turning off the regen cycle, so it may not be a good idea to remove the dpf just yet.

regen is initiated by drive cycles. It comes out by temperature.

Doesn't it also measure pressure drop across the filter to activate regen?

The primary input is the drive cycles, an emergency input (excessive low speed operation) is back pressure.
