How Many Gallons Is My Gas Tank?
Was thinking it was around 38 gallons but I'm thinking it's less than that. I have a 1999 Super Duty V10 with the long bed.

Long beds have a 38 gallon tank. Short beds have a 29 gallon tank.
Both are known to actually hold more than their supposed max capacities. There've been several threads over the years where numerous folks have posted about putting 40 gallons in the 38-gal tanks, or 32 gallons in their 29-gal tank, etc.

Drive it until the gas light comes on, then fill the tank up
If you're poor (like me), fill it up from half-tank and double the gallons used

I put 27 in my 29 gallon tank this morning. Nothing like $80 to wake you up on a Monday morning.

I just put 32 gals in my crewcab shortbed today! computer was showing 16 miles to empty.
I have done the harpoon mod so the nozzle clicked off the first time at 31 gals, then 3 more quick clicks to get to 32 gals.
