Looking for Info 2005 6.0 Diesel
I looking for info and opinions on the 2005 6.0L diesel. I have a 2000 F-350 SD 7.3L PSD DRW w\96K mi. that I'm looking to trade-in on 2005 F-350 SD w\6.0L PSD w\24K mi. I've seen mixed reviews on the 6.0L PSD so far and I'm having second thoughts. It seems the problem childern were the 03 & 04 model years and that 05 was suppose to be better. I don't do alot of towing or heavy hauling but I do alot of miles 700+ per week average. Any info would be appreciated.
I was also wondering about fuel mileage my 7.3 gets about 13 mpg combined and I heard the 6.0 does a little better, every little bit helps with todays prices.
If I've posted this in the wrong forum section please let know what sectioon I should use. I've just joined recently.
Thanks

I have a May 05' build 6.0 and have had very little issues with the truck. At the very begining of my ownership from new the truck developed an oil leak from the bed plate. Once I had that repaired there have been zero problems with the truck. I use this forum daily and see all the issues that come across the board and thank the lord I don't have any. 03'-04' models seem to be the troublesome ones, but that can be expected with any new motor debut. As far as the 05' I say rock and roll because it is a rocket compared to the 7.3, and it sounds unreal when you uncork that keg they call a muffler. Good Luck!!!!

Im guessing you will be getting a dually. Should see around 14-15mpg. I have an 06 f-250 cc 4x4 and get 18mpg on the highway 15-16 in town. Get an oasis report on the truck to check its history. If its up to your standards, this truck will be good to you because of the miles you put on it. The 6.0L hates to idle. Many of the turbo issues you see on here are due to extented idle times or sitting in the driveway to long. I love mine and am very happy with the power it has. Good luck.

I'm actually looking at a single rear wheel F-350. The dually looks great but can be a pain in *** too. Thanks.
What is an oasis report I've seen it mentioned a couple of times but I never heard of it. Is it similar to a Carfax report??

An oasis report is a ford service history of your truck. It lists all of the warrenty work done to the truck. I just bought a 04 srw f350. I ran an oasis report on it. I came back with just a few items. egr valve changed twice, front hub and bearings changed, oil and egr cooler changed. Good to know the history of the truck. Good luck and enjoy the 6.0 if you buy it.

I have a 2005 CC 4x4 6.0. I bought this truck new and currently it has 61,000 miles and I have had a few problems. Twice it was towed for a bad fuel pump and one injector. Last month they replaced the heads and gaskets. There has been a few visits for flashes and smaller items also. I hope that I am through with the visits to the dealer. Recently I've thought about trading it in on something else, but I'm still on the fence though.
