Serpentine Belt

A friend of mine the other day gave me a serpintine belt for a 2000 5.4. Now I have a 2000 4.6. My guess is that they are not interchangable. Is that true?

It may be too short since The 5.4L is taller then the 4.6L. A local parts store can look up both and see if they use the same belt.

I checked the part numbers and the belts are the same they will fit either the 5.4 or 4.6. but the part number is different if you don't have a/c.

you could always do it the fast and easy way and look up the PN's for each motor at
www.autozone.com
www.partsamerica.com
www.napaonline.com

etc etc etc etc

Yeah, I was gonna do that, but I was at work when I first replied and didn't have time. I figured that the alternator would sit higher up on the 5.4L requiring a longer belt since the block is taller and wider.

Doesn't take much to just pull the stock belt and see if it is more or less the same length, it should be a tad longer if this other belt is new. I think whether or not that belt is for an AC truck or not is the only problem.

Wow, thanks for the help. I knew this would be the place to ask.
