Frame replacement cost

Just had accident with brand new 2006 F-150 XLT 4WD extended cab. Minimal body damage but adjuster wants to replace the Frame with new one. Anyone have an idea on ballpark cost to replace?

wrong forum.....

my first question is that if you had minimal body damage how could you bend a FULLY BOXED frame to the point where they want it replaces....seames weird....

you posted in the 2009 F-150 forum...

Well, keep in mind that the frame bears the brunt of any impact. In order for the body to sustain any damage at all, the frame has to bend. The frame is connected directly to the bumper.....

The only body damage is the front bumper......impact was directly on the hub of drivers front wheel. From what i understand the frame is cracked.

Its not going to be cheap that is for sure. Everything, litterally everything has to be removed and transferred to the new frame. Ive seen our shop replace several of the new body style frames but I have no idea what the cost was.

I dont have a clue how easy it was. It may have been hit by a semi for all I know. It was done by our shop for the body shop who does it for insurance company adjusters. Its a decision the adjuster makes whether he knows what he is doing or not. We technicians dont get into thier business. Of the few I have asked "why the hell are they replacing it?" I get a reply from the one doing the work "hell if I know!"

I was doing 35 mph and was hit by a Geo doing about 15-20 mph smack in the middle of drivers front wheel. Curled the drivers side end of bumper (only body damage). Broke bottom A arm holding brake hub. Didn't look real bad.....surprise!!!!

Maybe the frames are so rigid that they cant be straightened if twisted, dented, or compressed?

yeah, it just seams weird that a Geo....GEO doing 20 hit a F-150 doing 35....55 mph crash and the frames trash....sounds like insurance crap...

but you could be right about them being so ridgid that they can't be straightened...
