I was at a Honda dealership looking over the Honda Elements. As we were walking past the "trucks" I asked the salesman what he thought of the Ridgelines. He laughed and said "they aren't bad for a yuppie truck".

I also googled and read a Ridgeline forum. Seems like whatever forum I read, I keep reading the about the same issues in all of them. Honda, Toyota, Ford, Chevy and Dodge all seem to have the same issues.

Yeah i must agree the ridgeline is NOT a truck, i saw one at the home depot the guy was buying stone blocks. he wanted a pallet of 65 to be loaded in his so called "truck" each block weighed 25bls at 65 blocks it weighed 1625 he thought he could hold it in his truck. So the forklift placed it gently in his truck and i stood there laughing as the the truck squated, then i saw his right rear spring fly off. Ridgeline a truck nonsense!

Oddly enough, the Ridgeline is actually fairly popular down here. Not so much that you see them on every corner, but I've seen quite a few.

So far I have'nt seen any Honda "trucks" driven by a guy with a flannel shirt and a seed corn cap pulling a hay wagon or with a stock rack in back.

Probably a good thing, too... the ditches are kinda steep around here.

In case the tone did'nt come through there, lemme say this loud & clear:

Honda Ridgeline = definitely NOT a truck. Don't know for sure what it is, exactly, but it's not a truck.

Ahhhh the 2006 Honda Ridgeline; Honda's first attempt at a truck and they failed. Try again Honda.....no, actually don't try again.

According to Honda's web site: "...the Ridgeline is what a truck should be..."

A "truck" that is only available with an Aluminum-Alloy 3.5L (3471cc) V6 (HP is 247 @ 5750 RPM & TQ ft/lbs is 245 @ 4500 RPM). Not a good formula: wimpy total torque output + being developed at a very high RPM = worthless for towing/hauling. So much for the "...will never leave you wanting more..." statement. The Ridgeline has the exact same engine, transmission, suspension, uni-body frame... found in a minivan (Honda Odyssey). Yeah, that's a real mans "truck" all right!

A mini Chevy Avalanche for ONLY $30,000+! Ouch, not much bang for the buck!

It's based on the Honda Pilot, restyled (worse) and reformulated sheet metal wise. Everything under the skin is Honda Pilot, which uses the same V6 as the Odyssey minivan, and Accord. The engine is also used in the Saturn Vue, and some Acura models.

The Ridgeline, new Tundra and to some, the Chevrolet Silverado are vying for the ugliest truck ever made...Oh wait, the honor goes to the Tundra, the Ridgeline isn't a truck.

Thats why around here (in Missouri) all the Home Depot stores offer Ford Super Duty truck rentals for customers. I can't wait until the day they replace them with a real "truck", the Honda Ridgeline.....NOT!
