Just wondering if you guys think the name along with a Navistar supplied engine will come to an end for the next Super Duty. I'd like to see the name continue but all good things must come to an end I suppose. Who owns the Power Stroke trademark anyway? Ford or Navistar?
Probably depends on how the 6.4 does up until the new engine. If it turns out to be a decent engine they'll probably want to keep the name going, if it turns out to be synonymous with a POS than maybe they'll be better off canning the name.
heard a rumor on another forum about a month ago that ford was going in house on a 6.7 and once completed navistar was gone ,but said same rumor claims the 6.0 psd is gonna be the new diesel in the nissan truck in 09/10
What I wonder is will the diesel pickup craze continue. With diesel fuel $.20-$.40/ gal higher than gas. With advanced technology gas rigs with large displacement engines getting better mileage. The new smog requirements. The problem of finding ultra low sulfur diesel. The cost of the diesel option. Will these and other things start a change in what the masses want. I have talked to several guys that tell me they like their diesels but their next truck their going back to gas. These are guys that drive Ford, Chevys, & Dodges.
Most guys I talk to that pull say they'll never go back to gas. My dad was one of those guys after he pulled a 4-place snowmobile trailer with my Power Stroke. Ha, now he's buying a Dodge Ram with a Cummins next year.
hmmmmm.... so if the diesel craze needs to stop, then Ford would need a large scale powerful gas motor (bigger than the V10) to fill the demand. Howabout hooking two 4.9 I6 300's together to make a 9.8 litre V12? Boy I bet that would be a monster, and there is no way it could get worse mileage than the V10... thoughts?
