I know politics are taboo in the forums but Mods hear me out on this one please. IMHO there is nothing more heinous than a child molester. We have in MD a form of Jessica's Law but it is not enough. The new Legislation will make it a MANDITORY sentence w/o parole of 25 years for sexual assault on a minor age 13 or younger. The Judicial Proceedings Committee heard testimony on this on the 13th. The following infuriates me. They heard the testimony after letting abused kids waiting to testify in the hallway for over 5 hours. To top it off the chairman of the Committee Frosh and others didn't even show up! It is time to let these morons know exactly who they work for. Call your representative. Get involved. This is for your kids.
OBTW. The people that are against this are some judges and trail lawyers groups because it has manditory sentencing.
Enough from me. Do your own research. Lets not let these people get away with this.

Dear Duncan, I can assure you that it wasn't in my committee that this happened, it was in the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee, chaired by Senator Brian Frosh. Your comments about this situation are echoed by many citizens including me, who are outraged by his lack of commitment to protect our children in Maryland, which was evidence when Chairman Frosh didn't even having the courtesy to listen to the testimony by witnesses who have suffered at the hands of child predators. I suggest that you call his office and let him know how your feelings about his snub to people like Mark Klass, Polly Klass's father, and Chip St.Claire, a child predator victim (his own father),who travels across the U.S. and testify for the true Jessic's Law to be passed. Much to the chagrin of the lawyers in Annapolis, the worthless excuse oh I mean governor signed Jessica's law today. I guess a little activism does work.
