2005 5.4 superchips mod

i was wondering if anybody has installed the superchips flashpaq tuner on their 2005 5.4. all my friends tell me that i need to buy one but i am not sure whether putiing 93 octane gas in my truck is worth it. if anyone has this please tell me all that you think about it. i would really appreciate it. thank you.

I would go with a SCT X-Cal 2 tuned by a reputable tuner. They hold three custome tunes so you could have 1 tune for performance using 87 octane, 1 performance tune using 93 octane and 1 tune for towing.
Another benefit to the SCT X Cal 2 is they can email you new tunes as you mod you truck, this is a nice benefit if you ever get taller gears or if you do a few bolt on engine mods.
From what I gather Troyer performance is a reputable tuner, you may want to call them. They are a sponcer for the forums as well.

I have a Superchips Flashpaq in my 06 F250 4x4 5.4L and you have 3 tunes to choose from 1 being 87 octane 2 Towing (requires 91 octane) 3 performance (requires 91 octane) I use the 87 octane tune the most and it does make a big difference in throttle response and power I have not noticed any mileage improvements but the throttle response is great. Superchips website sells it for $550 I got it from AutoAnything.com for $385 and it is worth it. Hope this helps

Anything's better than stock, but custom tunes are better than the canned tunes that come on most programmers.

I have a Troyer tuned SCT XCal2 on my truck and I love it... tons more power than stock.

Anybody have an Edge or Gryphon? I am looking to wake a serious dog in my 04' F250 Superduty 5.4. Sad to say, but I think my dads 2000 Chevy 1500 Silverado could RUN AWAY from my truck right now!! I can OUT TOW HIS, but his is quicker! MAKES ME MAD I BOUGHT IT! Needs some power!! Its part of being a drag racer...I may have the race car on the trailer behind the truck, but thats no reason for the truck to be SLOW!! LOL

Two words! HOLT SH**!!!!!!! That did the trick. Woke this truck up big time!!! I can actually smoke the rear tires now. If you're not careful taking off from a stop you can snap your neck, I'm not kidding. Well worth the money if you're looking for performance!

I highly recommend the SCT tuners (X3 or Livewire). You can get custom tunes and they are updateable. Contact Mike at 5 Star Tuning.

SCT 3X:
XCalibrator3 Ford

SCT Livewire:
Livewire (Gas)

I got the Superchips Flashpaq 1815. This thing is the bomb! I am very satisfied with it, actually more than satisfied. This truck was a slug taking off from any stop but now this thing is hoped up and ready to go. She jumps now. The Flashpaq is updatable by plugging to a usb port and logging into Superchips website. There are even a few downloadable programs available for this model, one being a mileage program to better your mileage.
