1985 manual tranny ID

1985 big Bronco with straight six and 4 speed stick. Owners manual says that there is 4 speed manual and 4 speed manual overdrive. From the shift pattern on the shift mine looks like 4 speed without overdrive. The overdrives have a D in place of the 4 on the shift ****. What tranny do I have and what 4speed tranny has the overdrive?

I would say you either have an NP435 or T18, both of which are bulletproof. The overdrive 4 speeds would either be an SROD or TOD (pieces of junk)

To be accurate, you are going to have to tell us. There are three possible 4 speeds. Warner, New Process, or Ford TS-OD. Look on the VIN plate/sticker, and get the trans code off it, and post it here. Only the TS has overdrive, and it's my guess that's the trans you have. The transmission shift **** is the same with or without o/d, according to the parts book.

That's because the transmission ID is not in the VIN...it's listed separate on the VIN sticker. I noted that in above post.

On the sticker...look where it says TRANS

Post that info.
