Um... one comment. Who CARES about Toyotas? Really?

Why it's even being discussed outside of "Ford vs. the Competition" is beyond me.

Mags who accept advertising are NOT objective. They never have been. It's a fact of life. Even those that don't have advertising in them (if any exist) are still subject to making mistakes.

Want to know which one to buy? Go drive them all.

Me? I wouldn't be caught dead in any one of the competitor's trucks at this time. Styling sucks on 'em all... The F-150 is the best looking one of them all - and I don't even own an F-150

If it ain't got a blue oval on it, it ain't worth owning...

--

And picking on people's grammar or spelling is just plain immature ...

And, just for the facts, the 5.4l WAS updated to the 3-valve, in what, 2004? Getting a bump in torque.

Now what I'd like to know is ... put a 8K lbs trailer behind all those trucks and see which one gets up to speed faster. 1Klbs isn't enough to sneeze at.

And, what's the stock gearing (include the tranny!)? And, what engine did that F150 have in it? The "base" engine? The 4.6? What?

The Ford apologists are funny, but the 'yota/Nissan fans are really a blast...

I bought my F150 because it was the best truck on the market for me and I love it. I currently own at least one truck from the big 3 (no imports, just not interested at this time), they all have their positive and negative sides. I think the Ford is the better truck. Is it the best truck on the market? It is for me. I think you can find a plus and minus for any truck made, you should buy the one you like best.

I just test drove a 2007 Tundra 5.7 SR5 Double Cab. A full report will be typed tonight. All I can say is this.

If you want 381HP, you are going to have to pay for it. The truck I drove had a list of $32,078.00 and it didn't have two features that to me are a must: power adjustable pedals (not even offered), and a power sliding rear window.

It's way too much money..quite frankly I was disappointed, considering all the hype.

I don't know...the Dodge guys seem to be runnin' scared over this new Tundra, since they want their Hemis to keep a lock on the "performance truck" title...they have at least a half dozen threads started in the last week about it.

Then again, this is just what Toyota wants...free publicity!!

Wow!!! If that doesn't sound familiar...........American Automakers 20 years ago????

Trucks are/were the last thing we had. With your attitude, not only is Toy going to sneak in on the 1/2 ton market but will put down roots in the 3/4> market shortly............we'd better care!!!

100% agree............the only problem is, I haven't seen any 'yota/Nissan fans reply. Seems to me a lot of HONEST and disgruntled Ford fans are replying and want Ford to wake up..............and QUICK!!!

I also agree the F-150 is on its fourth year.........but there have been 0/ZERO incremental improvements. No side air bags, no horsepower increases, no trans upgrade (the Expi has a 6 speed for cryin' out loud!!!)

The basic truck is OUTSTANDING but cannot be left stagnate while other makers pass on by.......... I believe that is all us Ford fans(at least the ones without blinders) are bitchin' about!!!

As far as power pedals.........not everyone is a sasquatch like you, Bill.

They are a cool option.......but to be honest, never used them in the Marauder and haven't missed 'em in the F-250. (I'm near 6' and the wife is 5'2")

Anxiously awaiting the write-up!!!

I'd heard they're about neck-and-neck...but the Dodge boys are quick then to point out how much better Dodge drivers are (snicker, snicker), how much the Titan axles suck, and how much better the aftermarket for Hemis is. I think the Titan worries have mostly died down by now, and I'm sure the Tundra talk will do the same. But for now, it's puttin' the Dodge guys on edge (I like to see that, too...what a bunch of Ford bashers!).

PS - Semi-Hemi...I like that!

Every Ford, Chevy, Dodge, Nissan and GMC dealer, does.

Why it's even being discussed outside of "Ford vs. the Competition" is beyond me.

Mags who accept advertising are NOT objective. They never have been. It's a fact of life. Even those that don't have advertising in them (if any exist) are still subject to making mistakes.CR is the only one I know of, and some know if it doesn't say Japanese, CR doesn't like it.

Want to know which one to buy? Go drive them all. I have, in fact I just returned home after driving a Tundra 5.7.

Me? I wouldn't be caught dead in any one of the competitor's trucks at this time. Styling sucks on 'em all... The F-150 is the best looking one of them all - and I don't even own an F-150 Agree 100% on the styling.

If it ain't got a blue oval on it, it ain't worth owning...Let the buyers decide.

And picking on people's grammar or spelling is just plain immature. Partially agree, but when people type BS, it hard to overlook the other faults.

And, just for the facts, the 5.4l WAS updated to the 3-valve, in what, 2004? Getting a bump in torque. Toyota/Nissan offer 32 valve DOHC engines. Tundra has a 6 speed, Titan a 5.

Now what I'd like to know is ... put a 8K lbs trailer behind all those trucks and see which one gets up to speed faster. 1Klbs isn't enough to sneeze at.One ton is nothing today, but anyone that expects a 1/2 ton pickup to tow any more than 7,000 lbs, needs to take a course in Reality 101.

And, what's the stock gearing (include the tranny!)? And, what engine did that F150 have in it? The "base" engine? The 4.6? What? 5.4 .. Read the test yourself.

The Ford apologists are funny, but the 'yota/Nissan fans are really a blast...
Have you driven or studied the competition? I've driven them all, including a new Tundra 5.7 about an hour ago, and frankly, it's overhyped, and expensive. Full report tonight.

BTW, a Titan can smoke a "semi Hemi" and just about everything else. Titan's come standard with a 5.6 (339ci) DOHC V8 engine and a 5 speed transmission. The rear end is a Dana 44, and is the weak link in the otherwise outstanding powertrain.

Right on! That price sounds not too far off. But vehicles are a bit more expensive up here.

It shouldn't scare the ford guy's that toyota has 381 hp, were use to being under powered compared to the competion. In the same token, p/u trucks aren't race cars. My 99 f-150 only had 260 hp, but it pulled, hauled and towed everything I needed it to do. The best 150 I ever had was a 77 4x4 with the 300 I-6 and 4-speed, it didn't have much hp, but it had gobs of lowend torque, it was a good old truck. Ford is fixing to release a diesel in the f-150 and put the huricane in a mustang, maybe a lighting. So I guess thier not worried about the gas hp wars. I got that info from the latest edition of truck trend, I would post the article, but I'm a computer idiot and don't know how. If any of you get truck trend, then you know the article that I'm speaking of.

Honest question, Mr. Borror...........if trucks aren't race cars and you don't care how fast they are (as you've posted in numerous other threads) then why did you spend so much to up the performance of your Ranger???

At the risk of being redundant, I GUARANTEE when/if Ford takes the lead in the HP wars these same people will be saying how great it is to be #1.

It's a hobby more or less, it wouldn't matter if it had 100 hp or 500 hp, I would still screw with it. Don't get me wrong, I like power, but for the average truck buyer may not feel the same way, or it may not be the deciding factor. My ranger had plenty stock for it's size, but plenty isn't enough for me ha ha. I love performance, I thought the lighting and srt-10 were the bomb. I just dout that most truck buyer's feel the way I do, I could be wrong, but since the f-150 is still the best selling truck in america, I think I'm right, at least a little. "Cool" sig, I take it you have a marauder, those were really cool cars, they remind me of the cars from the muscle car days, gauges and all. Were those only made in black? I bet yours is sharp I think thier cooler than a mustang, more unique. You have a nice piece of american iron there, your a lucky guy, I don't even see any for sale around here in more, hold on to that puppy, thier a great car.

I'm not suprised with Ford coming in last on this test. My 97 f150 is the last Ford truck I plan to own. I haven't owened a decent Ford product since my 95 crown vic. My 2 Dodge trucks I had before my 97 F150were much better trucks. Our grand marquis has been a pain also. Both of them have stayed in the shop for stupid minor repairs & both have had the trans pulled. The mod motor is too hard to work on & cost lots more for any repair work The only reason I still have these Ford products is I paid them off quickly so I could put my money into getting debt free & paying off my home. As soon as I finish paying for my home the wife & I will be driving a different brand. My last 5 Fords have lived up to the saying Fix Or Repair Daily. Its a shame. I've owned 11 Ford trucks & only the ones made after 95 were of poor quality.

Thats great that your able to get out of debt, I'm working on that myself. Sorry you had bad luck with ford, I hope you have better luck with your next brand. Dodge over built by 80,000 vehicles in 06 and some were rams, it may be a good time to get a heck of a deal if there any left.
