A good bad day

we had a winter storm today alternating between snow and sleet with some rain at times. The roads had been sprayed with brine solution last nite prior to the storm, so the roads didn't get real bad but we decided to stay home and not open the store anyhow. That's the bad part.
The good part was that I got to spend the day in the garage, and also that the roads were passable enough and the precip has changed to rain in the afternoon so that the delivery truck was able to make it to my house and up my driveway to deliver MY NEW COMPRESSOR! That thing was much bigger than I had imagined Especially as packed for shipping. It was on a full sized wood pallet and the packing was > 6' tall! After removing the packing it still stands over 5' tall.
It's an Ingersol Rand series 30 commercial duty 2 stage compressor with an 80 gal vertical tank and 5 HP motor.
Looks like I'll be running air lines this weekend!!!

Cool! I wished many times that I had gone 2-stage on mine. I still need to run my lines. Too busy working for everyone else.

Hi AX....I have a IR model T30 and I love it. The shop I work at has a T30 also. It runs a LOT, with no ill effects. It should last a lifetime!

AX, Congrats on the new compressor! They are great machines. I ran copper lines, however at today's copper prices, depending on how many air stations you run, you may want to go the steel line route. Thet are big bulky and top heavy. One thing that they did not provide last year when I bought mine was a paper outline of the anchor holes to give you the drill pattern to anchor it to concrete.

Congrats AX. A new tool is always a good day. Something you might want to consider instead of anchoring it to that purty new floor is to get some heavy (1/4"-3/8") rubber pads to put under each mounting foot. I was going to anchor mine until a friend who is in the commercial air compressor business told me about the rubber. He actually uses old semi truck mud flaps and cuts them up. Mine has never moved and no holes in the floor, and yet if I need to move it I can.

AX, You might try the rubber pads as suggested. Position it where you want it, run your power feed, slip some scrap rubber under the feet and try it. I tried mine before I fastened it to the floor but did not try it with the rubber. Mine walked on the concrete without the rubber.

Congrats AX.
You should have plenty of air now! Sounds like a great unit

I got a single stage 60 Gallon for X-mas. I got it all wired up and plumbed in. The hardest part for me was rearranging everythign in the garage to make room for it. Which means I had to clean the shed and mover a bunch of the garage stuff to the shed. It was either that or get rid of the old Pepsi machien that holds frosty beverages and I just couldn't see a shop without frosty beverages.

When you plumb it in don't forget to add a main shut of valve at the compressor (dont ask me why I would say such a thing...lol)

As the old saying goes..."The only difference between Men and Boys... is the price of their toys"!

Congrats on the compressor. It was meant to be... you staying home and getting a special delivery.

Groundhog Day - early Spring my a$$. It's snowing here (25 degrees) with a forecast of zero or below Monday night!
