efi 460 mass air questions

Off the top of my head I dont know how the firing order of the 460 differs from the 5.0, if it was different, would you just swap the injector plugs and wires on the distributor cap around to compensate, or can you re-program for that. Of course if the firing order is the same, this question would fall into the category of stupid. I am really excited to see this project moving forward, I hope it works out well. I need something to reference when I get around to doing this on my 429 Mach 1. I haven't nailed down an intake yet, will probably go with a performer rpm to match my cams range, but I will need to have injector bosses added to it. I am sure the stock 460 efi manifold will not be adequate and I am quite sure I dont need the 2 1/4" runners you have! I do find it interesting the A9L computer will work, I suppose its simplicity (no obdII crap) makes it a great starting point. Cant wait to see the finished project keep it up!

Great Thread!
I see it has been a long time since it was written on, so I just want to pipe up and see if the project has moved along. I recently purchased an 89 F250 with an EFI 460 that needs a little work, and a mass air setup would be welcome as well. Right now it is surging and will not run if the AC harness is plugged in to the connector over the heater box...mysteries to solve!

I have a '96 F-150 parts truck with a mass air 302. I have wondered about using parts from it to convert a 460 to mass air. Has anyone looked into that? I think that would be OBD II right? I'm not sure what challenges that would create. I have a '93 F-350 with 460 that i'd like to buildup.

I finally found some more of the stuff needed for my MAF system for the 86. I obtained a 95 F150 5.0L ECM with the WAY1 tear tag code on it. This is from a 5.0L Bronco running and E4OD and sequential injection and position sensed EGR system. This can be reprogrammed to run the 7.5L engine. In researching MAF numbers, I found I had an MAF for the 460, it shares the unit with my 1995 Continental 4.6L DOHC engine. I have an extra one with the air filter pigtail chopped off. I am building the harnesses for the front end and engine. I need to find a CA 7.5L intake hose from MAF to the "H" shaped IAC connection and possibly an air filter top.

The wiring loom I got was independent of the stock unit. Had to change the injector wiring to sequential at the computer wiring. Not a big deal. You won't need any change on the computer, as the mass air meter will be programed for the injector size that you give the manufacture before they send it out to you. Try this web site. http://fordfuelinjection.com/
I see that PMAS's web site is on the mend for a few days. They are the ones that got me started.

Also check this article. It's basically the same procedure.

Hey guys, I've been working on this conversion for awhile and need a little help to complete. What I've got is a '94 250 with an E4OD. I have an overlay kit for RJM and all the intake plumbing, air meter, etc. Which computer would be the "easiest" for this conversion. From what I can tell, the Cali computers would be the perfect match but are impossible to find.
Mountainsurfer, what 'puter did you end up going with?
Thanks
