Today I was under the truck, looking for an exhaust leak that I have long suspected to be in the exhaust manifold.

Instead, I heard a rattling sound (kinda like a marble in a can, but not as loud. It was below the manifold, on the right side of the oil pan like it was in the crankcase.

What could it be? Does this indicate a problem?

Check cat converor shield Clips rust out put bigger boltin. thats what they sound like , I have heard them sound like pinging at certain rpms inside truck . Good luck

 

I was literally underneath the truck. The sound appeared to be coming from the crankcase or oil pan area on the right side, not back by the cats.

Please tell me this isn't the crank slapping against a worn-out bearing.
