Toy trucks FOREVER had boxed frames, then went to a C-channel on the Tundras.

Except for early Broncos, Ford has always used a C-channel up untill the current 150. What's funny is the Super Duties still use a C-channel after the front section.

So the paradox is:

If the Ford 150 frame is superiour because it's boxed, is the Super Duty (and every previous 150) junk because they use C-channel frames?

I think I posted this before.........the ONLY time I've heard/read of frame problems was when Ford had too many holes in the new for 1980 frames and GM frames of the 70's cracked at the steering box.

Otherwise I agree with you 100%..........a lot of hoopla.

Hey! my 91 Jeep wrangler has a fully boxed frame. Does that mean if I take the soft top off and install a 5th wheel where the back seat is, that I can tow 5 tons like a new F-150

Even so I'll never be able to tow as much as those 98 4.2's man those things are real powerhouses

What happened to the nice rumble it had? I say stick with the rumble and get rid of the small feline.

Like really, actually think about this truck, look it over and see if its just a Toyota or actually a good truck.
Don't get me wrong..I think you should test drive one, and I will value your opinion, as you are one of the more steadfast Ford owners here on FTE.

Looking forward to hearing about what you think.

Our 2001 Tundra sounds pretty good, like a proper V8 should. For some reason, they quieted down the later ones so they don't sound anywhere as appealing. I hope the 2007's have a bit more growl like the early ones.

I compared a friend of mine's Tundra screw with mine and there is no comparison. My F150 is much roomier on the inside and it looks a lot better. My friend's truck looked ok on the outside but cheap on the inside.

Question

Everyone was talking how the new Titan was going to clean house. Well, it has a real HO V-8. And what? Plastic door panels that are a little nicer than my 94 XL? Some rails in the bed which would be covered up/bent in their aluminum extruded mess? Hmmmm... I didn't buy that and apparently not as many ppl elsewhere did either. Tundra sales have actually been down, just like everybody else this past year. They, Toyota had to break out the big rebates also. And quality and reliablity have been the harbingers of the Asian brands quest for customers. What happened to that? Honda, Toyota, Nissan have all had recalls and safety notices is quantity and type of the American Big 3 this past year.

No, Ford has to watch out alright. King of the Hill. Everone gunning for your spot. Everyone wants to be that lucky. But they have to do better than what I'm seeing. Heck, even the Explorer is the number 1 selling SUV still! I wonder why, could it be that Ford knows how to build and sell a quality truck? Yeah, I know the 6.0 has been a nightmare. It was supposed to be an improvement over the 7.3. But it wasn't because they booboo'd. They were promised one thing by International and sold another. Maybe that's why the are moving to build their own diesel inhouse in the future?
