ford flatbed

I have a flatbed installed on a 1988 ford f250 pickup. I was told by the previous owner that the flatbed was from the 1930's. the flatbed has square holes for a stakebed and the ford logo in raised script on the rear of the bed. is there anyway to verify the age of the flatbed? the truck needs some repairs and we are selling it, I want to know if just the flatbed is worth anything. thanks for any info anyone can provide. KC

ford flatbed

I believe the Ford stakebeds from the 30's and 40's had the Ford script stamped onto the back of the bed. It sounds like it could be an original stake bed. The value is kind of hard to say since you didn't say anything about the condition of the bed. If it's in good shape and all, I'd think maybe about $500 or so would be a good price. The problem may be finding a buyer for it since most 1/2 tons had a regular box on them, and not a lot of people fix up the old 1 ton trucks.
