Tune up specs
I just bought a 52 F3 that had been sitting and have been trying to get it started. It sounds like it wants to but doesn't. Can anyone give me the firing order, point gap and timing degrees?
Cleaned out the entire fuel system so that shouldn't be the problem unless the carb needs to be rebuilt. Any help is appreciated Thanks Al

If it is a six:
0 degrees BTC for timing
.24-.26 for point setting
.25-.28 for the plug gap
If it is a V8
2 degrees BTC for timing
.14-.16 for point setting
.25-.28 For spark plug gap
It wouldn't hurt to check the compression on the motor also. If it gets down around 50 lbs. or less you may never start it. I had a 51 with a V8 that was that low and it never started, just kicked like it wanted to.
Hope this helps Barry

The Firing orders are:
239ci (Flathead V8)
1-5-4-8-6-3-7-2
226ci (Inline Six)
1-5-3-6-2-4
Make sure that when you line the notch on the crank with the needle (Which puts the #1 piston at the top of its stroke), make sure that it is on its compression stroke. You can tell because air will be coming out of the spark plug hole when you place your thumb on it.
I'm sure that you know how to set the timing from there
