Dana 70 Hub Swap
My '65 F-350 is stock with the Dana 70 Full floating rear axle. It has 6 lug hubs, with a 7.25" bolt pattern, and a 5.5" hub hole. I've been researching the Dana 70 hubs, because it is really hard to find wheels with that size bolt pattern and hub hole. The part that's worse is that they are split rims, so nobody wants to touch them for me. I've found that the dodge's still run a Dana 70 for their dually trucks up to present date, i believe. Does anyone know if i could take 8 lug hubs off a junkyard dodge and just bolt them onto my axle? I haven't gotten to a junkyard yet to do any measuring.

I have a '68 F-350 with a Dana 70 axle & 8-bolt lugs. I also have about 1-1/2 Dana 70 axles worth of parts for a dual-wheel trailer I hope to build. I would be happy to measure my parts for you and consult regarding your options. (It is possible that I may have surplus parts to sell, but right now I could not say.)
Would you also change your front hubs to keep everthing consistent? New 8-lug wheels are still available in drop-center style (non-split rim - tubeless). Last I checked they were going past $75 each. Wrecking yards are full of various dual-wheels -- in CA they were going for around $40 each, although it is hard to come up with a full set (7 if you want a spare).
One other decision you will need to make is whether to go "hub-centric" or "lug-centric". If you do not know what this is I will detail it out in a reply.
Another option is to cut out your wheel centers and have them welded into new (or used) drop-center, tubless tire rims. (The drop-center is the smaller diameter groove that allows the tire to fit over the rim that is larger than the hole in the tire. Most all auto rims are "drop-center".) This option is not as far out as you might think.
