1997 E300 van

I trying to help a friend with a problem he is having with the brakes on his van. He thought he had a master cylinder problem because he didn't have any brakes, the petal just went to the floor. It turned out to be a blown fuse. As soon as the fuse was replaced the brakes went back to normal. His ABS light was on when the fuse was blown. Is this a common thing?

It has happened again once since he figured out what was causing it. Is there anything else that is tied into the power of the abs system?
