Whats my gearbox

Hi folks
I have a 1954 F100 which was assembled in South Africa so is right hand drive and is fitted with a 8BA 239 flathead V8

This truck has a (noisy)3 speed floor shift gearbox with the numbers
"T87 D-1H, WG DIV" cast into the side.

What I would like to know is
1. Is this the original gearbox? I believe the US built trucks all had column shifts, maybe the right hand drive trucks built in Africa and Australia were different

2. What other manual gearboxes can be fitted, I'd prefer to stick with Ford 4 or 5 speed

Regards

Steve B
