I've installed duel dynomax VT's but haven't heard them on my truck. You can get a sound bit on the internet of these mufflers. I am running Sanderson headers on my 351M Stroker.

Hey Ryan,
Hmmm Exhaust stuff.. My only thought would be to avoid cheaping out & just turning down the exhaust under the bed. We tried that one - no thanks - stunk up the cab & sprayed rocks/gravel everywhere. We had to run the exhaust a second time out in front of the back wheels because we had relocated the gas tank under the bed.
Need to be a bit more careful on muffler & noise if it's coming out right behind your door/window. If it's going out the back - use whatever.
Good luck over there.

We got a set of the block hugger headers from Speedway. they don't flow the best but they fit. They collect down to a 2.25" pipe and thats what we used for the whole system. We were going to use Flowmaster 50's however while crusing the net one day we found some Thrush mufflers that were less than half the price of the Flowmasters and Thrush has been around for ever so I gave they a try. Well the truck sounds just the way I want it to, nice low rumble. The only draw back was the made in China sticker on the muffler box, oh well.

I have shorty sanderson coated headers with flowmaster 40's, ford racing 306 with the x cam. Sounds awesome!

Either X or H pipe shouldn't affect the sound that much, use whichever you have the room for. IMHO long tube headers are for high RPMs not much benefits on the street, tend to crack, not worth the fit hassle over tri Y or block huggers. Sanderson headers are a bit more money, but they are high quality, guarantee fit if they say it will fit and don't require gaskets that typically leak and blow out with other headers. Whatever you buy DEFINITELY get them ceramic coated inside and out!

Hey Ryan,
I tried the Flowmaster 40's like Bryanknie has but it was super loud - my neighbors
were frowning. We went with more baffles & a more sedate muffler - it's still plenty loud. We've also got a high performance 351W with a mild cam. (It also might be an age thing - I'm over 50 & less interested in noise at this point).
Good luck over there.

Jag - What rims and tires are those?!
Everyone else - I see where people use different sets of headers, being new I question how do you know if these were going to fit or not? Hate to be buying/returning headers until you get a set that fits. I'm working on a 55 and plan on a 351W motor and see headers listed on the MidFifty's website but if there are other sets cheaper I'm all for saving money. Hope to do a 2 1/2" exhaust. Love the pics though.
