2004 F-150 Reveal

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I am really sorry ya'll...but that is the UGLIEST thing I have ever seen. I may own and drive a Ford but I thank the good Lord every day that I was born a Chevy man. That is the most overstyled and gimmicky thing I have ever seen. The regular cab is a laugh in itself. I bought a regular cab because I can't handle the squeaking from the suicide doors on the extended ones. Boy I am glad my next one will be a Chevy.

2004 F-150 Reveal

First off, at first I thought the truck looked a little silly. Especially the model with the chrome grille. But after looking at a variety of different photo's it isn't too bad. I think that the chassis engineering with the fully boxed frame is much better than before. Thats what caught my attention. I looked through all of the tech specs and photos and with all of the engineering they put into the frame and chassis it seems like it might still be a decent but comfortable truck. I did think that the lightning looked awesome. And was that a manual tranny I saw in the cab? Or just a fancy automatic shifter?

About the plastic bumpers. I am sure that everone has noticed how most, or all of the trucks lower part of the front bumpers are now plastic. I thought this was not because they are trying to reduce weight or make the front end look cheap. But because it is supposed to make less of an impact on smaller cars if you were to rear end one. Or reduce damages and/or injuries due to an impact.

I have to admit I do like the lightning. I am not sure of the lightning if it comes with a standard but I know the v10 dodge 1500 is only an auto. still don't like the new 150 concept do like the mustang and the mercury messenger. ---BOB---

That's correct <> Short throw 6 spd manual.

That truck felt great to sit in too!

I appreciate the 4 wheel disc brakes as well.

I have a few photos in my gallery.

I guess we should be thankful Ford hasn't been hiring the stylists that the GM studios are stuck with. Seen the new Cheyenne concept?(shudder) I don't have any interest at all in the 97-up F150s, in fact I think the best part of that intro at the 96 Detroit show was the robot with the cowboy hat, but these new ones look great!

2004 F-150 Reveal

I just seen the lighting and it looks impressive, Ironcially I thought of a design a few weeks ago using standard air conditioning to "super cool" the air for a breif period of time.... I had no clue ford designed and patendted a similair Idea. The lighting Power wise is very impressive, outer styling is nice... The only negitive is the yellow interior... it just doesn't belong... but it's still a concet and the interiror will be changed.

LOL looking at Chebbys line of trucks made me laugh. That Colorado looks so terrible with PLASTIC everywhere... you know when your in chebys section... plastic EVERYWHERE.

Ford please just remain where you are... making good trucks, don't sell your steel for plastic.

So I was wondering.
Have you been reading Ken's & My posts about the 2004 trucks?

I really like the looks of the new 'regular' cab truck. But if the production holds true to the specs on Ford's web page (no manual tranny?) they can keep it. No automatic for me, thank you.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 01-15-03 AT 11:03 AM (EST)]For those of you upset about the size of the EXT Cab. The red truck is not the ext cab. Check out this pic https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gallery/sizeimage.php?&photoid=12480&width
This seems to be a regular cab with extension.
Here is the Ext cab
https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gallery/sizeimage.php?&photoid=12459&width=0

::Quote::
Three cab choices-
Regular Cab, a single row of occupant seating and rearward-swinging access doors that reveal a behind-seat stowage area up to 13 inches wide.
SuperCab, a two-door extended cab version featuring a second row of seating accessed by two rearward-swinging doors.
SuperCrew, a crew cab that features two rows of seating and four forward-swinging full-size doors

I like the new F-150 but I prefer the looks of the regular box not the flareside FX4,it looks too cheesy.

2004 F-150 Reveal

Ken, Do you think the 2004 model is going back to when the 150 also looked like the 250 and 350 to be cost effective? Ford is due to update the 250's too! I think my next truck will be a heavier duty truck for more weight, but I want it to look like that super look'n new style f-150.

My F150 is a 7700 with Timbrin Helpers and 'D'load rated tires. It's being pushed to the Max. w/my 5th wheel camper weight.
I might want to go to a little bigger camper next year!
