Another stop leak thread....

Yes I know stop leaks are supposed to be temporary / bandaid fixes. But my rear main seal is leaking. Not bad but it drips. This is the 3rd seal since I've had the engine in and out. I didn't notice a groove in the crank. I just can't get the damn things to seal up! So, between all the brands available, what works best? I'm a believer in Lucas oil products, but what about bars leak or the others?

I know my oiling system, (I've had the engine completely apart a couple of times) and there's nothing to harm in it.

Bars leak fixed my radiator in the past (apples 2 oranges I know. ) but Lucas is goooood stuff.

Yea yea yea do it right replace the seal... I have, 3 times now. They never leak bad, just drip.

Bars leaks is good stuff I agree. But the more I read and ask around the more great things I hear about the Lucas. I think I'll give it a whirl when I do the next oil change.

Many folks have reported success in slowing, or stopping engine seal weeps, or leaks, using a "high mileage" recipe crank case oil, in the engines specified viscosity & service grade range. These lubes have extra seal conditioner/swell additives that can sometimes help, without causing other mischief.

Don't know yet. Just put it in this morning, so like 10 miles ago. I'm expecting good results

Well it worked, kind of
I noticed the oil was starting to run down on the bottom of the oil pan, so I crawled underneath with a socket only to find that the rear pan bolts were loose. Hmm, odd. Anyway that stopped a lot of the leak. That may have been the leak.

But it hasn't dripped again since so I think I got it.

Now you might want to consider an oil & filter change to get most of the Barrs product out, so it doesn't over soften/swell something & cause more mischief.
