Just had my 4.2L '97 F-150 fixed - replaced intake maniford gaskets, water pump, MAF sensor.

It ran like crap, about 3 miles to the gallon with coolant in the oil and leeking water everywhere - Now runs great, BUT --- have Check engine light - codes 1537 and 1538. IMRC stuck open.

What are my most likely causes? I Did not have this problem before the intake gaskets were done.

Vacuum lines not properly connected to the actuators? Sensors not plugged in?

 

I had the same codes on mine back in July.I tried fixing it myself;looked for vacuum leaks,the actuator clips were not broke,even tried running SeaFoam thru the intake thinking it was carbon keeping them open! NOTHING! I finally broke down and took it to Ford;$690.00 later it was fixed! Both IMRC actuators were bad!

 

WTF, i am prolly going to have to do that 2. Freaking dude sold me a lemon. Some people i wish you could just hit them in the face with a crowbar.
