Anybody have access to warranty info stats on Torqueshift vs Allyson? I read a post this week on it but can't remember what site it was on.

 

what do you mean? TSB? Or warranty stats? GM's drivetrain is 100k for the allison.

 

No, somebody had the warranty repair stats on both but I can't find the post. I don't remember what site it was on either. That's an excellent warranty though. Gm has finally matched the Koreans. What's Ford waiting for?

 

I wish everyone would quit calling it an allison transmision. The top gear from what I understand was designed by allison. The rest is basicly a turbo 400.

lol at you... for buying a cheby. duramax on it's third revision sense when? 2001? Good marketing.. that is all GM (Gods mistake) is good at. I do believe I am correct that the "allison" is based on the turbo 400 or the later one.. can't remember the number 700r or something like that

 

The 1000 series was based off of the heavier allisons. Of which, GM owns Allison so any inside info shared, wouldn't surprise me. So yes it is a GM tranny through and through. Do you care what marketing badge is put on it???????????????????

Maybe ford should have followed suite, and they wouldn't have lost as much market share. I personally like the upgrades every few years.

 

7.3 was revised in 02, then 6.0 was released in 03, revised in 04, and 05, and then canned for 08.

I'd rather have one engine that has been improve on than 3 engines with multiple revisions.

Comparing a fully electronic trans like the Allison to a 700R or Turbo 400 is beyond laughable.

 

Way back in the 70's, Allison sold a light duty (for them) automatic called the '475 Easimatic'. It was a beefed up Turbo 400 for use in 2 ton trucks like the Chevy C-50. I think that was the only time Allison ever based anything on a Hydramatic. One look at an Allison 1000 series will tell you it has nothing to do with a Turbo 400 or a 700R4.
